Non Executive Director Coaching
Leverage your expertise and experience through good governance
|
Board and NED coaching helps to guide and develop the leadership skills of individuals chairing or serving on boards as directors or as non-executive directors.
As the Chair of a Board or as a non-executive Director, you have to juggle the needs of the company and demands of the executive with a fine, focused and insightful touch.
As a NED, it is part of your role to guide and to govern but not to manage.
You have a duty of care to the company and that means asking the hard questions as to performance of the company and to test the understanding of the executive of the decisions they are making or the course they are proposing.
But how do you tread this fine line? What techniques can you use to be more effective? How do you raise issues in a manner that empowers the executive but satisfies the needs of governance and serves the best interests of the company?
At a personal level, how do you navigate the different personalities on the Board? Do you sometimes struggle to be heard? Are you being sidelined? How do you make your voice and input relevant? How do you contribute your expertise for which you were appointed to the Board?
For a Chair, how do you harness the knowledge and expertise of your Board in a strategic way?
What are the areas that you may not see as Chair? How do you empower the executive and your board members but keep a focused governance in the face of change and uncertainty? How do you leverage the expertise of the Board to support the executive in a proactive and capacity building way? How do you deal with an under-performing CEO? At what point do you let a failing CEO go? |

I am a reasonably experienced NED. I sit on an ASX listed company in the mining and exploration sector and other non-listed boards.
Felicity has coached me in building strategic alliances with my Chair and across my fellow Directors, increased my understanding how they think and how I can influence them. I look at communicating at board and committee level very differently now - it has been astonishing how quickly I have achieved different results by a change in my approach and a better understanding of my values and how I think. NED
ASX50 listed company, Australia I have sat on boards and committees for many years and recently assumed the role of Chair at a time of change for a membership based not-for-profit.
Working with Felicity has honed my skills, given me confidence and provided me with a toolkit to be a better, more strategic Chair. As a result, the performance of the CEO has improved and the dynamic of the business has changed significantly over the past months. I was skeptical about whether coaching was effective but working with Felicity has shown a substantial ROI and I will continue to work with her. NED and Chair

I worked with Felicity a number of years ago. The benefits were a better sense of how to deliver an impact when speaking and to structure my presentations differently. I also learnt to read voices around a board table which has been a valuable asset in my NED career.

Medical Bio-tech Company, Australia I’m an ASX listed company NED and corporate advisor in the resources sector. Before my sessions with Felicity I was feeling frustrated and wanted to improve my ability to meaningfully influence those around the board table. Thanks to Felicity I’ve learnt how to pack a punch to positively influence outcomes. I now look forward to consolidating my growth with increasing stretch opportunities. I will be keeping Felicity by my side from now on.
